Integrated insights.

Sustainable outcomes.

Our Mission

At Hyaltus, we deliver integrated, science-driven modelling solutions that embrace the full complexity of watershed systems. We see groundwater, surface water, climate, land use, and infrastructure as interconnected parts of a dynamic whole. By combining advanced models with real-world expertise, we help clients tackle water challenges with clarity and confidence. Whether assessing flood risks, guiding development, securing water supplies, or protecting ecosystems, we provide insights that inform decision-making and support resilient, sustainable outcomes.

Our Solutions

We provide advanced modelling services to address complex water challenges. From data analysis to scenario evaluation, we turn science into actionable insight.

Our Tools

We use industry-leading open-source modelling platforms along with custom analytics and GIS workflows to simulate watershed dynamics and water system behaviour.

Our Team

Behind every project at Hyaltus is a team of thoughtful, skilled professionals dedicated to solving water challenges with science, precision, and purpose. We’re a group of people who take pride in solving complex water challenges - and just as much pride in working with one another.

Michael Takeda, P.Eng.

SR HYDROGEOLOGIST, PRINCIPAL

Michael is our senior hydrogeologist with over 15 years of experience translating complex groundwater systems into clear, decision-ready models. He specializes in integrated SW/GW modelling, source water protection analyses, mine planning, and environmental assessment. Known for his calm under pressure and knack for converting technical nuance into practical insight, he’s equal parts problem solver and system thinker, and still gets excited about a good water table map.

Pete Thompson, P.Eng.

SR HYDROLOGIST, PRINCIPAL

Pete is a hydrologist with 20 years of experience building models, designing tools, and making sense of the complex interactions between water, land, and people. He specializes in assessing the impacts of climate and land cover change on watershed systems using distributed hydrologic models. He has led watershed-scale integrated modelling projects, contributed to provincial and federal modelling guidance, and is the team’s go-to when something breaks - especially if he built it.

Sarah Grass, P.Eng.

HYDROLOGIST

Sarah brings a decade of experience tackling tricky water problems across Canada, with a strong focus on flood modelling. From PMF studies and floodplain mapping to mine closure planning and low-impact development, she’s handled it all and still enjoys the puzzle. She combines deep technical knowledge with a practical, focused approach (and an unflappable attitude toward last-minute figure changes). She’s also well-versed in Raven and other hydrologic tools and knows when to trust the output and when to question it.

Brayden Ralph, G.I.T.

JR HYDROGEOLOGIST

Brayden blends a strong technical foundation with a passion for mountain hydrology and geospatial analysis. His graduate research focused on alpine groundwater systems, where he explored how subsurface storage shapes baseflows in glacier-fed rivers. He also brings hands-on experience with GIS and remote sensing, using machine learning to classify land cover and detect change in complex terrain. Whether building models or decoding pixels, Brayden is always looking for sharper tools and smarter insights.

Tom Arsenault, CET

SR HYDROMETRIC TECHNOLOGIST

With over 35 years of experience monitoring rivers and lakes across Canada, Tom brings unmatched field savvy and hydrometric expertise to our team. A long-time Water Survey of Canada veteran, he has gauged everything from wind-swept Arctic rivers to flashy urban creeks, and can coax clean data from even the messiest hydrograph. Whether he's building rating curves in AQUARIUS or troubleshooting a field install in the middle of nowhere, Tom gets it done!
